René Twigge’s art exemplifies the increasing importance of science and technology in artistic creation. Her digital art examines the visual potential of botanical forms during stages of growth and decay.
Twigge’s art is emblematic of a philosophical concept that enables the impression – in the merging of nature and new technologies in the realm of art – of a new ‘real botanical’.

The Australian based artist prefers to work in the still of the night in quiet surroundings, creating rich and vibrant art. A former fine arts student, she is fascinated by the untested potentials of the digital medium for artist mark making. Having studied traditional printmaking and cognizant of translating her digital creations into aesthetic physical items, she entrusts her work to a master printer for archival printing. Her work is sold only in limited editions and produced with archival materials. Since launching her art career in 2008 her work has been purchased by art collectors across the globe.

“I am inspired by the forms, textures and colours of plants during various stages of growth and deterioration as well as the visual and light effects created digitally for animated and 3D movies. The integration of these opposites, organic and digital, is a subject matter that I will continue to explore”
